The cloak is based on the Deborah Champion cloak in the
Connecticut Historical Society
from the pattern developed by Mr. Henry M. Cooke IV, of
Historical Costume Services.
The extant cloak has red plush trim on both the hood and cloak body
edges as well as the arm slits. Until the appropriate red plush wool fabric is
located, the arm slits will not be cut on this cloak.

page showing a step by step slide show.
Approximately 2 and 1/2 yards of 60" hard
finished
English wool were used, this wool holds a perfect cut edge and is available from
Historical Costume
Services. Both the hood and cloak body are pieced, using scant 1/4 inch
seams. All seams are hand sewn, using
Utica
waxed silk sewing thread, size A. The partial hood lining is black silk
taffeta, sewn with YLI silk thread. A
brass hook and eye is at neck band edge.
Some views of cloak will be with the Calash under the
hood. The size of this hood dictates that another quilted silk
hood or calash would probably have been worn underneath the very large
hood.
Back of hood, with Calash underneath.
Hood front view with Calash.
Hood Front without Calash.
Hood thrown back.
